Funding and Scholarship Opportunities


The Worker and Community Group Program

APSA Red Members are eligible to apply for funding for professional development, classes, trainings, and more through our sister organization, the American Public Servants Charitable Foundation (APSCF). To support the professional lives of APSA members, APSA’s sister organization, the American Public Servants Charitable Foundation (APSCF) runs the Worker and Community Grant Program. Any APSA Red Member is eligible to apply for funding through the APSCF Worker and Community Grant Program, either for themselves, or on behalf of a group or community they are part of.

   

   

Individuals may apply for funding for the following purposes:

  • Professional development activities, classes, or trainings to keep current job or maintain current accreditation / licensure;
  • Professional development activities, classes, or trainings to acquire new skills, accreditations, or licensures to be eligible for a raise, promotion, or other career advancement;
  • Workforce retraining programs or classes to learn new skills to acquire a new job or retain a job;
  • Reimbursement for a mandatory one-time or periodic professional licensing fee;
  • Reimbursement for legal fees incurred through APSA’s legal services provider, LegalShield, for employment-related legal services that are not fully covered by the APSA LegalShield plan.
     

Groups or communities may apply for funding for the following purposes:

  • Professional development activities, classes, or trainings to keep current job or maintain current accreditation / licensure;
  • Professional development activities, classes, or trainings to acquire new skills, accreditations, or licensures to be eligible for a raise, promotion, or other career advancement;
  • Workforce retraining programs or classes to learn new skills to acquire a new job or retain a job;
  • Project to improve your workplace or other professional community.


Timeline & Requirements

Applications are open through March 31, 2023 and are evaluated on a rolling basis. An additional application opportunity will open in fall 2023. 

Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Does the funding proposal fit within a listed funding category?
  • Does the applicant fully describe how the funding will help them professionally, or their professional community?
  • Is the request amount appropriate for the described outcome?
  • Does the funding request support the individual’s or community’s membership?
